FAQ

  • BCBS PPO, Aetna, United Healthcare

  • Our intake session is $175 and a regular session is $160.

  • An intake session is a time for your clinician to gather information about what led you to come in for therapy as well as any past treatments you’ve experienced. It is also a time when your clinician will review your goals, treatment expectations, and as well review the policies and procedures of Brave Talk Therapy.

  • Everyone is different! On average it takes 3-4 sessions to build good rapport which research has proven is one of the most effective aspects of having a positive outcome in therapy. During those initial sessions, the clinician should also be getting a good understanding of what led you into therapy and identifying what type of therapy is best such as cognitive behavioral therapy or dialectal behavioral therapy. Therapy is about the client putting in the work (just as much as the clinician) and some clients will engage for an average of 8-10 sessions and some for years. Brave Talk Therapy believes that therapy should be utilized not only in times of struggle but also the good times as life is full of ups and downs and one can also benefit from outside support.

  • After an intake, a regular session should feel comfortable and relaxed. The space and time are yours to process as you need and for the clinician to ensure that the necessary therapeutic skills are being taught and utilized. Sessions are a time for check-ins on different aspects of your life or time to review your initial goals and to review your diagnosis but to also understand that you are not your diagnosis. Brave Talk Therapy also believes that therapy sessions should include laughter when possible and all clients should leave each session feeling more empowered to take on the next day.

No need to be anybody but oneself.”
